COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Personal Branding for Today’s Business Executive/Manager There is a reason why we patronise some brands. It is the same with people. People always buy people first before they buy your ideas or whatever you have to offer them. That is why it is prudent to identify your unique selling points and brand yourself so you can be a cut above the rest. The course will give you strategies to get you noticed by talking, looking and acting the part from dealing with your subordinates’, peers to your superiors.
The target groups are: PR Officers, Corporate Affairs Executives, Business Development Managers/Executives, Supervisors
Effective Supervision in Organisations
The goal of this course is to develop the capacity of frontline and middle-level managers to effectively lead and supervise subordinates. At the core of this course is the belief that the proof of effective supervision is in the achievement of measurable results through improved performance of subordinates and fellow managers.
The target audience is: This course is designed for supervisors and frontline managers in both public and private organizations. It is expected that they have responsibilities for supervising and leading others.
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) The course provides executives, managers, SME operators and entrepreneurs with an understanding of how Enterprise Risk Management affects their business objectives. This interactive course introduces essential ERM principles and provides participants with a strong appreciation of the importance of a solid ERM framework to the success and long-term sustainability of their business. In the international business community, ERM has formed a pillar of corporate governance. Regulatory frameworks such as COSO, SOX and the King Codes provide legal requirements to ensure the success and sustainability of companies; in 2009, a new ISO standard, ISO 31000:2009, was introduced to provide principles and guidelines for enterprise risk management. Participants will learn to identify, evaluate and treat enterprise risks in ways that enable them to improve the success of any business – regardless of the size, type or location. The course is also designed for managers and professionals who are not directly responsible for enterprise risk management issues within their companies but would like to understand the impact of ERM on their domain within the company and improve the overall performance and sustainability of the business.

Effective Office Management and Administration This course is designed to meet the Office Management Needs of Organisations jockeying towards excellence in the management of the office process. It focuses on the following: · Office and managerial role/approaches to management thinking · Office planning and layout · Communication in the office · Control of office activities · Supervision/leadership in the office · Motivating employees · Enhanced IT skills
The target participants are supervisors, administrative assistants and personal assistants.
Financial Modelling / Business Spreadsheet Applications The purpose of the workshop is to improve participant's knowledge for implementing common financial models in Microsoft Excel (2003). The topics expected to b e covered include: financial calculations, financial modeling, value at risk (Var). Other topics are standard financial models in the areas of corporate finance, financial statement simulation, portfolio problem, options, portfolio insurance, duration and immunization etc.
Participants must have basic knowledge in Microsoft Excel (2003) as well as Business & Corporate Finance.
Effective Human Resource Management A company’s competitive advantage, and therefore its long term survival and growth in today’s global economy depend on the quality of its workforce. Employees are the most complex and critical of all the resources organisations have. The workshop will help participants to change the way they and their organisations think about the human resources function by introducing the concept of HR as “business within business”.
The course will examine the relationship between the overall management of the Organisations and the human resources management, the shared and complementary responsibilities of HR specialists and line managers in creating and managing a highly skilled and motivated work force for the economy of the 21st Century.

Information Management using Databases
The main objective of the course is centred around the design, implementation and testing of databases and how information management techniques can help organizations get accurate and timely information for making decision Participants will understand and be able to do the following: 1. Design a database and understand the basic terminologies of Databases such as a. Entities, attributes and relationships b. Primary and Foreign Keys c. Data structures (types and sizes) 2. Implement a database using a Database Management System (DBMS) i.e. Microsoft Access to create a database to manage a basic record keeping 3. Apply Information Management techniques to give timely/accurate information for an organizational needs
Participants are required to have good knowledge in computing especially being able to use basic Microsoft Windows commands and other Applications Software like Microsoft Word, and Excel. Knowledge in Microsoft Access will be advantageous

Financial Management for Non-Specialists This course provides managers with understanding of how finance affects their business objectives. This interactive course introduces essential financial management techniques and provides managers with a solid appreciation of corporate finance. It equips non-finance managers with comprehensive knowledge of financial principles and offers a strong foundation in financial management. Participants learn to interpret financial data in ways that enable them improve their personal effectiveness and make more comprehensive and productive corporate contributions. The course is also designed for managers and professionals who are responsible for financial issues without necessarily having a job title or qualification to match.

Procurement Management Acquire the requisite procurement skills and international best practices for the efficient and effective management of the procurement life cycle in your organization.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to understand the basic rules and best practices of procurement and the prudent use of resources throughout the procurement life cycle, with the view to achieving economy, efficiency, transparency and accountability.

The course is targeted at: Project Managers, Senior Managers and Finance Managers who supervise procurement practitioners and all managers who have responsibility of managing the supply chain.
Internal Audit and Control Internal auditing is an internal control over all controls in the Organisation. The objective of internal auditing is to assist all members of management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by furnishing them with analysis, appraisals, recommendations, and pertinent comments concerning activities reviewed. Internal auditing is concerned with the operational efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects and phases of business activity in which they may be of service to management (line and staff). This involves going beyond the accounting and financial records to obtain a full understanding of the operations under review.
The major internal audit activities or responsibilities covered in the course are: Appraisal of internal controls Compliance with internal controls Protection of assets Verifications Appraisal of performance and operations Recommendations for operating and performance improvements Reporting an audit findings Targeted participants are managers in charge of any operations, internal auditors, and top management. Supply Chain Management This course provides tools and techniques for understanding, resolving the issues, designing and implementing better supply chain management processes and an appraisal or modern trends in supply chain management.
Course contents include: · How do you analyse your supply chain from your customer’s viewpoint? · How do you analyse inventory and capacity to devise a better supply chain management strategy? · How do you decide what your manufacturing, supply, and stock strategy should be? · What are the ten essential ingredients of adding value through your supply chain? · What are the sic essential ingredients of control systems in supply chains? · What are the recent trends and innovations in managing supply chains? · How do you improve supply chain performance? Management of Health Care Organisations
The overarching development objective of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of the management functions, concepts, and principles as well as managerial roles within the context of health service organizations and their external environment. As clinicians, the course seeks to reinforce present skills and experience by applying new theories and principles that offers a highly leverage approach to the management of health care organizations. Essentially, the course is built around three mutually reinforcing objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to develop deeper understanding of the processes, techniques and competencies to health services management. Additionally, they should be able to either individually or collectively identify and research into specific problems facing healthcare institutions in low income countries such as Ghana and propose practical solutions to deal with the problem.
The Role of Internal Audit in Corporate Governance This seminar will provide participants with the key concepts and challenges related to corporate governance. The seminar explores the internal auditor’s role in helping the Board defines and implements processes to measure progress toward organizational objectives and prevent catastrophic management failure.
Internal Audit has a key governance role, as the Keeper of the Cube. Someone in the organization needs to understand and orchestrate the flows of information from all the different operational, compliance, financial reporting and even strategic initiatives – and Internal Audit is in a key, unique role to do that. The seminar is based on the COSO definition of internal control and enterprise risk management, but also explains why all definitions of risks and controls contain the same components,

Effective Front Desk Administration In this course, participants will learn strategies for handling visitors; powerful phone skills, specific things to project an image that commands respect, appreciate their role as first line of contact, and thereby enhance their efficiency in the organisation.
The programme contents includes: Understand your office, your role in the office, telephone finesse, handling difficult callers/visitors, assertiveness, communication skills, juggling multiple responsibilities and the priorities of more than one Boss, tracking bosses, appointments, human relations, business etiquette.
Target groups are receptionists, secretaries, front desk officers of hotels, ministries, banks, public sector institutions, corporations, etc.
